| In Western Australia, the East Kimberley region is home to the Argyle Diamond Mine and is the largest diamond producer in the world by volume. It is however, not the leader by value. It's main claim to fame is that it produces over 90% of the world's supply of pink diamonds, one of the most collectable hues of fancy coloured diamonds. Other fancy coloured diamonds are now becoming just as popular, such as the red, black and the new chocolate diamonds. |

| The Argyle mine is owned by the Rio Tinto Group, that also owns the Murowa Diamond Mine in Zimbabwe and the Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada. |

| As we have mentioned earlier, Australian diamond mines in Kimberley are famous for the fancy coloured diamonds that are found around and within the mine. Some of these diamonds are so exquisite and so valuable, that they are offered in the Argyle Pink Diamond Tender. For every 1000,000 carats (about 200kg) of rough pink diamonds produced at the Argyle, only 1 carat (0.20g) will be offered for the sale at this famous diamond tender. |
