| The impeccable symmetry of a 'hearts and arrows' diamond is a phenomenon that is coveted by diamond collectors the world over. It refers to a pattern of eight symmetrical hearts when the diamond is viewed down through it's pavilion and eight symmetrical arrows when viewing a diamond through it' table. |

| As you can see from the diagram the hearts and arrows view is unmistakeable. The first view is the hearts cut. Here you are looking down through the diamond pavilion. The second view is the arrows view which is seen through it's table. |

| To achieve the hearts and arrows cut, a master jewellery craftsman must use exact and experienced precision. Utter perfection is required to achieve total symmetry and this is not always achieved. Many diamonds will purport to have a hearts and arrows cut but it is rare to find a diamond that is cut so supremely perfectly no flaws can be found in symmetry. |
