The amazing diamond above will be auctioned at Sotheby's in their Hong Kong sale. The sale which started yesterday and which will run for five days will feature many items from the Orient including this absolute beauty.
The oval D-color Flawless Type IIa, 118.28-carat diamond was mined in 2011 in S. Africa and is the world's largest white diamond ever to come to auction. The purchase price estimate is up to $36 million. It is almost 20% larger than the current record holder, the 101.84ct 'Mouwad Splendour' diamond, which sold at Sotheby's in 1990. This stunning, world-record breaking gem will find a new owner on October 7th. Watch this space!
