Flaunting the same dazzling fire, scintillation, and sparkle as our mined diamonds

Natural vs Lab Grown Diamonds

Monroe Yorke Lab Grown Diamonds showcase the same distinctly dazzling fire, scintillation, and sparkle as our prized natural or mined diamonds. Furthermore, lab created diamonds exhibit identical physical, chemical, and optical properties. Even trained professionals are unable to visually differentiate lab grown diamonds from natural ones, while testing with specialized equipment is required to accurately distinguish between them. So, why not opt for the more sustainable and ethical choice with lab grown diamonds, without making any compromises in quality and beauty?

Our lab grown diamonds are imbued with the same stunning qualities that only a Monroe Yorke diamond can boast.

Lab created diamonds must be distinguished from diamond simulants such as cubic zirconia or moissanite . Unlike simulants, lab-grown diamonds are genuine diamonds created in highly controlled laboratory conditions, simulating the process by which diamonds develop naturally beneath the Earth's crust. Thus, the diamond crystal structure comprises actual carbon atoms, making it indistinguishable from natural diamonds. These diamonds give a positive result on a diamond tester, confirming their authenticity. On the other hand, simulants produce negative results when tested.

Natural diamonds are created deep underground through intense heat and pressure. However, since the 1950s, scientists have attempted to recreate this process above ground which has resulted in two innovative techniques. These methods are an incredible feat of human innovation and we continue to push the boundaries of what we thought was possible.

The High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) system involves surrounding a diamond seed with pure graphite, exposing it to about 1,500°C temperatures, and then pressurizing it to around 1.5 million pounds per square inch. This process takes place within a chamber specifically designed for the procedure. By using this approach, one can create diamonds that match the natural ones in terms of beauty and quality, making the system a good alternative to traditional mining.

The process of Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) is the second method used to produce diamonds. During this process, the seed is placed in a sealed chamber that's flooded with carbon-rich gas and heated to around 800C. Every atom counts as the gas attaches to the seed and builds up the diamond layer by layer.
