Melbourne Showroom
Collins Street Showroom · By Private Appointment. Try on rings, view loose diamonds under a microscope, meet your Diamond Specialist face-to-face.
Our Melbourne showroom
Our Melbourne showroom on Level 30 of Collins Place, 35 Collins Street, is set up the way Melbourne couples actually want to shop — one couple per slot, your Diamond Specialist's full attention, design conversation rather than sales script. The chains run identical inventory across Collins Street, Bourke Street, and Chapel Street; we run a single private studio where each ring starts as a sketch.
The Fifth C: Connection
For any jeweller, the four Cs are the language of quality. We believe there’s a fifth — and it’s the one Melbourne couples remember.
The four Cs — Cut, Colour, Clarity, Carat — are universal. Every reputable jeweller in Melbourne will quote them at you. What sets the next twenty years of marriage apart is the fifth C: Connection.
Connection is the difference between buying a diamond from a sales floor and being walked through your decision by a Diamond Specialist who knows your story. It’s the same person picking up the phone three years later when you come back for the wedding band. It’s the resize done at no charge sixty days after delivery. It’s the cleaning appointment booked once a year for the rest of your marriage.
That’s why we limit Melbourne consultations to one couple per slot, why your Diamond Specialist runs your entire process from first sketch to final fitting, and why our customer service is — reviewer after reviewer — the part Melbourne couples mention before the diamond, before the price, before anything else.
Why Melbourne couples are choosing bespoke over the Collins Street chains
Melbourne is the most design-conscious city in Australia. Walk through the Royal Arcade or the Block Arcade and you can feel the design lineage — late-Melbourne craft, Federation craftsmanship, the laneway renaissance of the last twenty years. Melbourne couples have grown up around this. They know the difference between a bespoke piece and an off-the-shelf one. They're often shopping their engagement ring with the same eye they'd bring to choosing a piece of furniture or a wedding suit — looking for considered design, not just rotation inventory.
And yet the engagement-ring chains on Collins Street and Bourke Street Mall and Chapel Street still run the same model: catalogue settings imported by the thousand, identical inventory across every store, sales scripts trained on closing rather than designing. Melbourne couples who care about craft typically reach the end of their Pinterest research with a particular shopping fatigue — the chains all look the same, the international houses charge for the brand rather than the diamond, and the smaller independent jewellers often lack the diamond inventory or the workshop capacity to deliver a true bespoke piece in a reasonable timeframe.
Monroe Yorke fills that gap. Our Melbourne showroom — Level 30, Collins Place, 35 Collins Street — operates by private appointment — one couple per slot, your Diamond Specialist sketching with you at the table, GIA-certified diamonds laid out under a microscope. We design from a brief, not a catalogue. Most Melbourne customers come in with a Pinterest board of ten or fifteen references and leave with a single CAD render of something genuinely their own — usually within 7–10 days of the consultation. The finished ring is made in Australia and delivered to Melbourne, or back to the showroom for a fitting before the proposal.
Geographically the showroom is positioned for the city's design corridors. Collins Street's Paris-end is a few blocks east; Toorak and South Yarra are a tram ride south; Brighton is a half-hour drive over the Westgate; Fitzroy and Carlton are walkable. Customers from the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley drive in for a Saturday appointment as easily as Geelong couples ride the train through Southern Cross. About a third of Melbourne-area orders never see the inside of the showroom — full virtual consultations from regional Melbourne, ring couriered insured to the proposal address.
What you actually get when you book a Melbourne appointment: a private 60–90 minute consultation, GIA-certified diamond options pulled to your spec, CAD design within 7–10 days, the finished ring made in Australia and delivered (or available for collection at the showroom). Lifetime guarantee, complimentary first resize within 60 days, free annual cleaning forever, and a real human you keep speaking to for the wedding bands, the eternity ring, and every chapter that follows.
Popular engagement ring styles in Melbourne
From timeless solitaires to art-deco halos — every style is custom-built around the centre stone you choose.
Melbourne is Australia's most bespoke-driven engagement ring market — about 70% of our Melbourne orders are custom-designed, the highest rate of any city we serve. Cushion cuts and oval brilliants dominate (combined around 40% of orders), with three-stone trilogy and toi-et-moi designs more common than in any other metro. Lab-grown commands 65% of Melbourne sales — the highest in Australia. Melbourne's design heritage and the modern engagement ring
How Melbourne's craft tradition shaped the way we design rings — and why it suits today's Melbourne couples.
The Block Arcade era
Built in 1892, the Block was Melbourne's first true luxury jewellery quarter — independent jewellers under one mosaic-floor roof. The lineage of bespoke Melbourne jewellery starts here, and the small-studio model is how we still operate.
The Paris-end of Collins Street
From the 1930s, the upper end of Collins became Melbourne's answer to Place Vendôme — discreet, design-led, by-appointment. The format we use today is a direct descendant.
Federation-period detail
Australian wedding bands of the 1920s pioneered milgrain edging, scrollwork, and engraved shoulders. Half our Melbourne custom briefs reference these techniques — "my grandmother's ring" usually means Federation-period detail.
The 2000s laneway renaissance
When Flinders Lane and Centre Place reinvented Melbourne hospitality, the city's design culture compounded. Customers who grew up in this Melbourne expect the same considered design ethic from their jeweller.
Melbournen gold-rush legacy
Bendigo and Ballarat made Melbourne's gold trade one of the largest in the world during the 1850s. We still use 18ct yellow gold from Australian-refined ingots — the heritage continues.
Modern Melbourne bespoke
About 70% of our Melbourne orders are full custom design — the highest proportion of any city we operate in. Melbourne couples reach for bespoke as the default rather than the upgrade.

Hand-finished engagement rings, GIA & IGI certified. Here’s how Melbourne couples describe the experience.
"I wanted a ring my partner could not have bought from a Tiffany or a Bvlgari — something with my fingerprints on it. I came in with a sketch on graph paper and a description of her grandmother's mid-century cocktail ring. Eight days later I had a CAD render that captured both. Six weeks after that I had the finished piece. She cried."
"We wanted a 2.0ct radiant three-stone in platinum and could not find one we liked at any of the Collins Street stores. Monroe Yorke designed it for us — three rounds of CAD, hand-finished in Australia, $19,500 finished. The Tiffany comparable was $58,000. Mind-bending value."
"Lab-grown emerald cut, 1.4ct, 18ct yellow gold. Eloped to Hanging Rock — they shipped the ring to our Daylesford airbnb the morning of. It arrived with the GIA-equivalent IGI cert and laser-inscribed serial. Whole thing felt like buying from a friend who happened to be a master jeweller."
"Classic 1.0ct round solitaire, 18ct white gold, lab-grown. $4,500. Comparable Collins Street quote was $9,400. The design conversation was the part that surprised me — they actively talked me out of upgrades I did not need. Felt like an architect, not a salesman."
What you should know before you buy
Diamond grading, simplified — so you can spend your time on the ring, not the jargon.
Cut
The most important C — it determines how the diamond plays with light. Aim for "Excellent" cut grade. The cheap shortcut: a worse cut grade.
Colour
D is the whitest. K is noticeably warm. Most Melbourne couples land in F–H — invisibly white in jewellery, significantly cheaper than D-E.
Clarity
How "clean" the diamond is internally. VS1–VS2 is "eye clean" and our most-recommended grade. Anything above it is paying for what only a microscope can see.
Carat
Weight, not size. A well-cut 1.0ct often looks bigger than a poorly-cut 1.2ct. Don't chase the magic number — chase the look.

How does Melbourne compare to Sydney for engagement ring buying?
Melbourne customers commission bespoke at a higher rate than any other city we serve. About 70% of our Melbourne orders are full custom designs versus around 50% in Sydney. The Melbourne sensibility leans toward considered, individual pieces — Federation detailing, art-deco references, vintage-inspired settings. Pricing is broadly similar between the two cities.
How much does an engagement ring cost in Melbourne?
Melbourne couples typically invest between $3,500 and $16,000, with the most common spend landing around $7,000–$11,000. That gets you a 1.0–1.5ct lab-grown diamond solitaire or halo in 18ct gold. The same ring with a natural diamond runs $13,000–$19,000. Our entry tier starts at $1,800.
Do you ship engagement rings across Melbourne and regional Melbourne?

Do you offer lab-grown diamond engagement rings in Melbourne?
Yes — about 65% of our 2026 Melbourne sales are lab-grown, the highest proportion of any city we serve. They are physically and chemically identical to mined diamonds, IGI-certified, and typically priced at 30–50% of an equivalent natural diamond. Same lifetime guarantee.

Yes. Interest-free in-house payment plans for Melbourne customers, plus Afterpay and Zip at checkout.
How long does it take to make an engagement ring in Melbourne?
Most engagement rings take 4–8 weeks from order to delivery. Sub-2-week turnaround is possible on request. Bespoke ground-up designs typically run 6–10 weeks.
