What is a lab-grown diamond?
A lab-grown diamond is a genuine diamond. It is pure carbon, with the same crystal structure, the same hardness — 10 on the Mohs scale, the hardest of any material — and the same brilliance, fire and scintillation as a diamond formed in the earth. It is not a diamond simulant: a lab-grown diamond is nothing like cubic zirconia or moissanite, which are different materials that only resemble diamond. "Lab-grown", "lab-created" and "lab-made" all mean the same thing — a real diamond, grown rather than mined.
