Albany channel-sets ten princess cut diamonds into the shoulders, squared stones sitting flush inside the metal rather than raised on claws. Nothing to catch on clothing, and a continuous line of light running into the centre stone instead of a row of separate sparkles. It's a cleaner look than pavé and considerably harder to set.
Seven metals, one design
Albany is made in 14ct and 18ct white gold, yellow gold and rose gold, and in 950 platinum. 14ct is harder and costs less. 18ct carries more colour, which shows most in yellow and rose, and yellow is what this design is best known in. Platinum is the heaviest on the hand, and it's naturally white rather than plated white, so it doesn't fade.
Whichever band colour you choose, the claws holding your centre diamond are white gold or platinum. White metal disappears against a colourless stone, so the diamond looks whiter and larger than it would in yellow claws.
The centre diamond is yours to choose
The centre stone isn't included in this price, and that's deliberate. You choose it at the next step. Albany takes a princess, emerald or radiant cut, all hand-selected against our light-performance standard. Natural stones come GIA certified, lab grown come IGI certified, and every one is graded Excellent or Ideal for cut. Nothing below that gets into a Monroe Yorke ring, because cut is what decides whether a diamond gives the light back or lets it fall through the bottom.
The shoulders
Ten princess cut diamonds are channel-set into the shoulders, 0.50 carats in total. You can have these in natural or lab grown. Natural sits at F to G colour, lab grown at D to E, both VS clarity.
Made to order in our Australian workshop
We don't keep Albany on a shelf. Each one is made to order and hand-finished by our master jeweller. Channel setting squared stones leaves no room for error, so this is not a ring that can be hurried. It arrives with our Lifetime Warranty and free insured shipping anywhere in Australia.
