How to choose your wedding ring metal

The wedding ring is the one piece of jewellery you'll wear every day for the rest of your life. Purity, durability and comfort matter more here than on any other piece.

  • 950 platinum · 95% pure · Naturally white, hypoallergenic and never needs plating. Denser than gold, so the ring feels heavier and settles into a natural wear pattern over time. Traditionally the most popular metal for wedding rings in Australia.
  • 18ct gold · 75% pure gold · Rich colour, substantial feel. Wears more visibly than platinum over decades, though many people prefer that natural patina. A common choice when matching an 18ct engagement ring.
  • 14ct gold · 58% pure gold · Harder alloy than 18ct, holds a sharper edge over time. Practical if you work with your hands.
  • 9ct gold · 37.5% pure gold · The hardest gold in our range. Chosen for durability over purity.

On colour

  • Yellow gold deepens naturally, no plating needed.
  • White gold is rhodium-plated. Re-plate every 2 to 3 years at our workshop.
  • Rose gold deepens gently with wear, no plating needed.

Which to pick if...

  • You want the most enduring wedding ring: 950 platinum
  • You're matching an existing 18ct engagement ring: 18ct gold (same karat gives the closest colour match)
  • You work with your hands or wear the ring at the gym: 950 platinum or 9ct gold (both hold up to wear)
  • Sensitive skin: 950 platinum, hypoallergenic and no plating that could wear through

Couples note

Many couples choose the same metal for both rings so they age together. If one partner has sensitive skin, platinum works well for both.

Same crystal structure, same hardness, same brilliance. The difference is origin.

  • Natural diamonds, formed deep in the earth over billions of years. Retain resale value longer.

About this ring

The Evie - Wedding & Anniversary Ring Mesmerising 0.90 - 1.00ct

Absolutely stunning, the Evie wedding and anniversary band is a mesmerising take on the traditional eternity band. The round brilliant cut diamonds are claw set in the precious metal of your choice and set to allow the crown of each stone to be seen above the band. The wonderful exposure of each gem allows for the brilliance of each stone to shine from any angle.
The diamonds in this ring

Hand-selected to a strict light-performance standard.

Every diamond in this ring is matched for colour and clarity, then secured by our master jeweller working stone by stone. Cut for perfect light return, so light travels through the stone and reflects straight back rather than escaping out the sides. A single line of fire across your finger.

The story behind the design

A circle without beginning, without end.

The continuous-diamond band is one of the oldest design motifs in our craft. A line of diamonds set without a break has symbolised unending love since Roman times. A promise without a clasp, a story without a final page.

Our Australian workshop hand finishes each ring. Stones are matched for colour and clarity before being set, then our master jeweller works his way around the band, placing each diamond, checking the spacing, and pressing the pave beads over the girdle of each stone.

Worn alone, it is a quietly beautiful anniversary ring. Worn beside a solitaire engagement ring, it sits flush and lets the centre stone catch every direction of light.

Frequently asked questions

Choosing a wedding ring is a meaningful purchase. Here are the questions we hear most often.

Yes. Your Monroe Yorke wedding ring includes complimentary resizing within 60 days of delivery. Resizing depends on the design. Most bands can be sized up or down by one or two sizes safely. Eternity-style bands set all the way around are size-locked once made, so we recommend confirming your size carefully before ordering.
Both are real diamonds. Same crystal structure, same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), same brilliance. The only difference is origin. Natural diamonds form deep in the earth over billions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are created above ground in weeks under the same crystal-growth conditions. Lab-grown diamonds are typically 40 to 50 per cent less for the same specifications, allowing a larger or higher-quality stone within the same budget.
Most of our wedding rings are designed to sit flush against standard solitaire and halo engagement ring settings. If you have an unusual or low-set engagement ring, we recommend booking a complimentary consultation with our designers. We can custom-shape a fitted band so the two rings sit perfectly together.
Every Monroe Yorke wedding ring is hand-finished to order in our Australian workshop. Standard lead time is 6 weeks from order confirmation. If you need it sooner, for a specific wedding date or event, please contact us to discuss priority craft options.
Yes. Every diamond we set, both natural and lab-grown, is verified conflict-free. We source natural diamonds through Kimberley Process certified suppliers, and our lab-grown diamonds are produced by partners using renewable energy. We do not work with any supplier we cannot trace ethically.
